Pekovich Kumiko Box
Cherry, white pine, balsam. Finished with shellac.
A single piece of cherry is cut so that the grain of the box wraps continuously around all sides. Splines in the mitered corners add pattern and elegance. A Kumiko panel top with the hemp pattern signifies “good fortune” for the owner and its contents. Kumiko is a Japanese woodworking technique that involves creating intricate patterns by fitting wooden pieces together without nails or glue. Designed by the furniture maker, Mike Pekovich.
Dimensions: 4 1/8” (w), 7” (l), 3 1/8” (h).
