The Democratic Arm Chair is made with parts split from a log with a maul and froe and then hand shaped on a shavehorse with a drawknife. The seat is carved with a scorp, travisher, and drawknife. Chairs can be finished clear or with milk paint from a large selection of colors. The surface is finished with a durable combination of tung oil and wax finish. Morley Lounge Chair
Black walnut and white oak. Finished with tung oil and wax.
The Morley Lounge Chair combines both elegance and comfort. Wood species and grain are selected to complement shape and silhouette. Router and hand plane are used to produce supple curves and surfaces. Designed by the furniture maker, Phil Morley.
Berea Ladder Back Arm Chair
Cherry. Woven reed seat. Finished with tung oil and wax.
Rough cut boards are sawn for straight-grained chair parts. A lathe and shavehorse are used to shape parts. The rear post and slats are steamed and bent. The seat is woven in a herringbone pattern with strips of soaked reed that pull taut as the reed dries. The surface is finished with a durable combination of tung oil and wax finish. Designed by the chair maker, Brian Boggs.
Poynor Ladder Back Side Chair
Red oak. Woven reed seat. Finished with tung oil and wax.
Starting from a log, parts for the Poynor Ladder Back Side Chair are split with a maul and froe and then hand shaped on a shavehorse with a drawknife. The rear post and slats are steamed and bent. The seat is woven with “natural” and “smoked” reed in a herringbone pattern. The strips are soaked and woven and then pull taut as the reed dries. The surface is finished with a durable combination of tung oil and wax finish. Designed originally by the chair maker, Richard “Dick” Poynor, the chair has been “recovered” by Robell Awake and Charlie Ryland through their historical work.
Continuous Windsor Chair
White oak, maple, and white pine. Color black over red milk paint. Finished with tung oil and wax.

The Comb Back “Stick” Chair is based upon traditional chairs from Wales and Ireland. The chair is exceedingly comfortable and, when painted, the chair has a striking stance and silhouette. Rough sawn boards are sawn for straight-grained parts in the Comb Back “Stick” Chair. Handplane and spokeshave are used to shape parts, while the seat is carved with a scorp, travisher, and drawknife. Chairs can be finished clear or with milk paint from a large selection of colors.
